I’ll take the butter!

P ass The Butter …. Please .
          This is interesting . .. . .

Margarine
was originally manufactured to fatten  turkeys.  When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put  all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their  heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get  their money back.  It was a white substance with no food appeal  so they added the yellow coloring and sold it to people to use in place of butter.  How do you like it?   They have come out  with some clever new flavorings

 DO  YOU KNOW..
The   difference between margarine and butter?

Read on to the end…gets very interesting!

Both  have the same amount of calories.

Butter  is slightly higher in saturated fats at
8  grams  compared   to 5 grams.

Eating
margarine can increase   heart disease in women by 53%  over  eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent  Harvard  Medical Study.

Eating
butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in  other foods.

Butter
has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few
Only  because  they are added!

Butter
tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavors of  other foods.

Butter
has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years .

And  now, for Margarine..

Very  high in Trans
fatty acids .

Triple  risk of coronary
heart disease .
Increases  total cholesterol
and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and  lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)

Increases  the risk of cancers up to five fold.

L owers  quality of
breast milk.

Decreases immune response.

Decreases
insulin response.

And  here’s the most disturbing fact…. HERE IS THE PART THAT  IS  VERY INTERESTING!

Margarine
is but O NE MOLECULE away  from being PLASTIC..

This  fact alone was enough to have me avoiding margarine for life  and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is  added,  cha nging the molecular structure of the  substance).

You  can try this yourself:

Purchase  a tub of margarine and leave it in your garage or shaded  area.  Within a couple of days you will note a couple of   things:

 *  no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it  (that  should tell you something)

 *  it does not rot or smell differently because it has
no nutritional  value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny  microorganisms  will not find a home to grow.  Why?   Because it is nearly plastic .  Would you melt your Tupperware and  spread that  on your toast?

Share  This With Your Friends…..(If you want to ‘butter them   up’)!

Chinese Proverb:

‘When someone shares  something of value with you and you benefit from it,  you have a  moral obligation to share it with  others’.

I feel good

Oh you know it’s those little things that remind us we can do this. When I started this journey the only thought in my mind was losing weight. As I’ve continued on I’ve found that habits are what need changing.

On the 23rd of Febuary I wrote a post about giving up pepsi, well I can happily say that since that day I’ve been totally caffine free. Not even Tea! I’ve gone water all the way getting 80 oz a day.

I know it’s a small thing, but it’s a habit that was adding to my weight and it’s a habit that is now broken. It’s a step toward becoming who I want to be.

We are all here for one main thing dropping weight but we need to worry more about those little things that are causing our weight issues.

I haven’t been so focused on weight loss because I know that in order to lose the weight I have to get all these little things in order. Stopping caffine, Watching what I eat, exercise……. If we try and do it all at once then we get over whelmed then we give up. So maybe we need to stop worrying so much about how much we weigh and worry about habits that helped get us where we are now…..

I’ve been focusing on the caffine issue. That is now an accomplishment. Now it’s time to start focusing on Fewer Calories. Calories that are dead for instance iceburg lettuce. There is no nutritional value to it. So why eat it? Start adding other salads such as Spinach which I enjoy and actually has nutritional value.

Stop eating so many Creamy Sauces, let go of Potatoes, White bread.

Start focusing on Eating Veggies and Fruits and lots of High Fiber foods. I buy my kids shredded wheat cereal. I got to looking at it and OMG it’s amazing how much Dietary Fiber is in there on top of being whole grain and contains lots of iron and other great vitamins. So I’m going to definitely be adding that to my daily routine.

I also found that when I eat things the first time I don’t much like it but once i’ve decided to give it a real try it’s not near as bad as i’ve made it out to be. It’s a mental thing we do to ourselves. Our body craves all the bad stuff we’ve been eating for years and so it wants to rebel against the good.

Just like with water, 3 months ago I’d drink water in the morning and I’d get sick to my stomach. So when I started drinking water I’d skip it in the mornings and drink it the rest of the day and now my body has come to love it and I drink water at all times now. We have to recondition our minds as well as our bodies.

Good Luck to you all and I hope you start breaking those little habits and start creating better habits that benefit you in the long run!
